Indications for use

Abiraterone acetate in combination with prednisone or prednisolone is indicated for:

• treatment of metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer in adult men with asymptomatic or minimally symptomatic disease, if antiandrogen therapy has failed and chemotherapy is not indicated at this stage.
• treatment of metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer in adult men if the disease progresses during or after docetaxel-based chemotherapy.

Method of administration

Recommended daily dose of Abiraterone Abiraterone acetate is 1 g (4 tablets of 250 mg). The tablets should be swallowed whole, without chewing, with a small amount of water. It is recommended not to eat anything for at least two hours before taking the medication and at least one hour after taking it. Abiraterone acetate is prescribed together with the glucocorticoid drugs prednisone or prednisolone. The recommended dose of prednisolone is 10 mg/day.
