Tafinlar is used to treat patients with unresectable or metastatic melanoma with the BRAF V600 gene mutation (as monotherapy).

To select patients for treatment with Tafinlar as monotherapy, confirmation of the BRAF V600 gene mutation using a validated test is required.

The efficacy and safety of Tafinlar in the treatment of melanoma with the wild-type BRAF gene mutation have not been established. Tafinlar should not be used to treat melanoma with the wild-type BRAF mutation. Tafinlar should be taken orally, no later than 1 hour before meals or no sooner than 2 hours after meals, with a 12-hour interval between doses. Tafinlar should be taken at the same time every day. The recommended adult dose is 150 mg twice daily (equivalent to a total daily dose of 300 mg).
