Application

Deferiprone is indicated for the treatment of patients with post-transfusion iron overload syndrome in the treatment of thalassemia when current chelation therapy is ineffective.

Dosage and Administration

The recommended starting dose of deferiprone is 75 mg/kg body weight per day, orally, in three divided doses. The maximum daily dose of deferiprone is 99 mg/kg body weight.
